Israel Captured the Elusive Kingdom at Last

Indeed, the elusive Kingdom of Korea was at last captured by Israel Antonio! Charlie and Chris may not have succeeded last year but another warrior from igorotlandia did.

Aside from the title of Gg. Kalinangang Pilipino, Israel also won the Darling of the Crowd, Mr. Talent and Best in Costume...

May Hedacos from Bukidnon won the Bb. Kalinangang Pilipino.

Ambassador Luis Cruz and Tourism Attache Maricon have graced the affair.

Fr. Alvin Parantar and Edgar Balista, Chaplain and President of the Hyehwadong Filipino Catholic Community respectively are also shown in the above pics.

(Sabi ko kasi eh, may ibubuga naman talaga tayo. Alisin na kasi ang pagkamahiyain!)

Challenged To Do Better

The new set of officers of the Cordillera Brotherhood Organization-Korea is faced by a challenge to do better for the interest of the group and as Filipinos in Korea.

CBO on its 17th year of existence has proven unity in diversity which members came from the different tribes of the Cordilleras (Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Kalinga, Apayao and Abra).

Chelo Lim, the newly installed president of CBO is the sister-in-law of Jimmy Lim, the founder and first president of the organization (1995). She's an active officer of BIBAK during her college days in Pangasinan.

In the pics are Inducting Officer Labor Attache Delmer Cruz, Fr. Peter Choi of Sahalom House and past CBO officers as Advisers.

Shy Mango Da

The Search is On for Mr. and Miss Onfino 2008 from the candidates of G. & Bb. Kalingang Pilipino 2008.

Hence, cordilove goes out to town and kept searching for prospects who would like to join the pageant.

NEGATIVE! Shy mango da amin...

In desperation, during the Migrant Festival last Sunday at the Ichon National Museum, cordilove has to content with the above posts na para bang nasa Baguio City lang. So cool talaga!

Bontoc Organization On the Go

The Ifontoks here were busy preparing the raffle tickets to be drawn. They were so patient and deligent to roll thousands of tickets and puting them inside a straw one by one! I dunno how they manage that ... we waited for quite a long time for them to finish. But it's good because the other people had the chance to tete-tete with one another while I took a nap with delicious foods and drinks on the table!

The result of the raffle draw will be posted here very soon. Paging Bontoc Organization President JOHN WAYNE...

Help Needed for Bruno Degawan

Hi Everyone!

Here’s an update with Bruno:

It’s good Lynette chatted with me this morning. Somehow I got hold of Roland Bosaing, President of the Sagada Migrant Workers Association (SMWA), who knows the what abouts of Bruno.

Bruno is presently comatose at St. Mary’s Hospital, Uijungbu, north of Seoul. It takes about 2 hours by train from Seoul to Uijungbu. There are many Cordillerans in this area.

Fr. Cho Hee In of the Uijungbu Catholic Migrant Workers Center is taking charge. Lynette is right about the tulong-tulong from the churches here. We had encoutered several cases na kasi. We personally know Fr. Peter Choi of Anglican’s Shallom Migrants Center in Seoul. He’s very supportive with CBO and in fact meron atang outreach program in Besao. He will be informed about Bruno.

We already coordinated the case to OWWA Officer Pat Cobarrubias, former OWWA OIC in La Union and Region 3. She likewise made endorsement to Consul Belo of ATN (Assistance to Nationals). We were assured that they’re going to visit Bruno next week.

I advised Roland to coordinate with CBO too.

So that’s the latest til Sunday again! I’m not a good reporter kaya pasensiya. I will post this at www.cbo-korea.blogspot .com

Cordilove reporting directly from Seoul, Korea!

Am I i-Fontok?

Many times I have been asked, taga-saan ka sa atin? I would automatically say from Barlig.

Asan iyon? Two hours away from Bontoc.

Ano iyon? Eh di capital ng Mountain Province.

Ah sa Benguet! ... (susme naman!) taga-Baguio City nga lang ako!

Oo maganda doon... (hay naku po!) of course naman, Summer Capital of the Philippines eh!

(nakakatawa ba ang conversation?... pinagtripan ko isuot ang uniform nila kanina... join naman agad si Sanley Lim. Send me your pics din para ilagay ko dito sa blog with matching captions ha?)

CBO Basketball Tournament 2008

Today is supposed to be the opening of the CBO Basketball Tournament 2008. However, the rain confined the group within the Majangdong High School Corridors. The referees instead discussed the rules and regulations to be imposed and 'drawed lots' the sequence of the game.

This year's participating teams are Mabuda, Bontoc, FBI, Bugias, Kabayan, Otucan, Sabangan, Camp 6, Data, Guinzadan and Bayabas. What happened to the Tadian Team, the Defending Champion? They back-out! Oh why, oh why? ... you don't like to relinguish the trophy or afraid that the speculations that by your winning last year is just a TSAMBA? hehehehe, joke joke joke...

The referees are members of BAP (Basketball Association of the Philippines) namely Gilbert, Dante Bor-as and Jay Panaga. Marshall Martinez will man the table.

The presence of Fr. Peter Choi is highly appreciated. Also present is his staff Choi Woong Jae who has already adopted an igorot name, Banglayan. Fr. Choi will be donating 5 NCAA basketballs next Sunday, the opening of the tournament.

Thanks Fr. Choi!

Igorota Song

Help us promote this Song. Super ganda ang lyrics and the melody, nahohomesick tuloy ako! Atlast the song is finally uploaded sa youtube. Most people from Kias know this song way back 1990's because this song was introduced by DAnny Tawanna who was the composer. Jun was so lucky that Danny gave him all his compositions to record. Danny is likewise lucky to have Jun record his songs. For everybody's info Danny suffered from a stroke and is now living in Nueva Viscaya. Just don't know if Jun pushed his plan of having Danny in his audience when he launched this album. (rainne68)
